Studio glass pioneer Fritz Dreisbach offers a survey of the first decades of American studio glass. Dreisbach was a founding member of the Glass Art Society, a 2002 recipient of the Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and is an unofficial historian of the American Studio Glass movement. He has inspired so many artists to work with glass that he has rightly been crowned the “Johnny Appleseed” of the American Studio Glass Movement.

Toledo Museum of Art
Learn what is was like to be present at the creation, or at least nearby. Centuries of studio glass history are represented by the panelists, who are also great storytellers. They share their take on Labino, the emerging role of women, encounters with industries and universities, and how one became the unofficial ambassador for glass. Panelists: Fritz Dreisbach, Henry Halem, Marvin Lipofsky, Richard Marquis, Joel Philip Myers, William Warmus (moderator), Toots Zynsky
